5G network speed competition! Huawei Mate 60 pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max-ePrice.HK

If you look for Huawei Mate 60 Pro on major Chinese and foreign video websites, you will see different kinds of praise introductions and demonstrations. One of them is its internet speed. We have asked Huawei and China Mobile Hong Kong representatives earlier, and they have personally stated that there is no 5.5G mobile phone in the world so far. The side statement that Mate 60 Pro supports 5.5G is a misinformation. The Speedtest, which is common in Chinese videos, is extremely fast. We have all analyzed that this is absolutely impossible in Hong Kong’s environment (click here for details). Well, the Hong Kong media will not compete in Internet speed, although many peers already have Mate 60 Pro in their hands. In recent years, ePrice has no longer been Apple’s designated media + KOL. Don’t worry regarding Apple’s “Line To Take” requirement. If you don’t do it well, you won’t be able to test iPhone earlier next year? . What people don’t do, I do:

Does Huawei Mate 60 Pro completely beat Apple’s latest mobile phone in terms of 5G network speed?

On this day when the iPhone 15 series was launched, I found two mobile phones for comparison. iPhone 15 Pro Max competes with Huawei Mate 60 Pro, which phone has the fastest Internet speed?

Two mobile phones, what new technologies are there in the 5G part?

Before the test, let’s talk regarding two mobile phones. There is nothing to explain regarding Huawei Mate 60 Pro, because the official did not clearly explain whether this phone supports 5G or not when this article was published. Of course, I have tested countless network speeds, and I will not confuse it with nonsense such as whether it is a 4G phone or it can run 5G network speeds. In fact, I have inquired that Hong Kong network operators have received Mate 60 Pro test phones, and they have not confirmed It is regarded as a 4G mobile phone. Every time I see someone saying that the Mate 60 Pro or other 4G phone has 5G network speeds, I will always laugh at it.

As for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, it uses the 3-nanometer A17 Pro chip. The performance specifications are not within the scope of today’s research, but for the 5G chip, it actually uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X70 5G Modem-RF. Compared with the previous generation, this chip is not a major upgrade. It mainly adds artificial intelligence control, making it easier to find better signals when used in mobile phones. In the United States, there are already speed testing agencies that have conducted comparisons. The iPhone 15 Pro has regarding 20% faster Internet speed than the previous generation iPhone 14 Pro (click here for a detailed explanation). Therefore, before the test, it was expected that the iPhone 15 Pro Max should have good results in terms of network speed.

Use Speedtest’s fastest network to test the fastest speed of two mobile phones
This test is not to test the weaknesses of the two mobile phones in 5G reception, but to test the strongest points. Therefore, I chose China Mobile Hong Kong CMHK, which has always boasted of “running the fastest speed in the speed test software Speedtest of the speed testing agency Ookla”, as the test network. Before the test, use the engineering mode of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (because Samsung mobile phones are the easiest to enter the engineering mode to check the signal condition) to see if the test location is a place with good signal reception. Using Speedtest’s strongest network and a location with excellent signal reception, I hope to test out the best network speeds of the two mobile phones in urban environments and compare them.

The first test location is McDonald’s in MGM shopping mall opposite Langham Place, Mongkok. Here, the RPSR value of CMHK 5G reaches regarding -90. This value can be said to be the reception environment of the network. The finer the number, the better the reception environment. -90 is actually a value above the qualification level. Another place is between Mong Kok and Yau Ma Tei, the park opposite the STAY MK Hotel at No. 11 Cheung Sha Street, Mong Kok. The RSPR index is also around -75, which is a strong area.

CMHK provides n79 (4900) 5G signals in these two places. This is a frequency band used to expand capacity and increase speed. First of all, many mobile phones on the market do not support receiving this frequency band, and few people use it. CMHK provides 80MHz bandwidth. For comparison, 3 Hong Kong’s n78 (3500) frequency band is only 40MHz, so as you can imagine, CMHK can provide extremely fast Internet speeds here. (Of course, it is possible to connect to n78, CMHK also has a bandwidth of 60MHz)

At the same time, we used Huawei Mate 60 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to run Ookla’s Speedtest real-time network speed test software. To show fairness, both mobile phones are connected to CMHK’s server in Kwai Chung. Each place was run three times, with a total of six results. Let’s take a look at the results.

iPhone 15 Pro Max downloads quickly, Huawei Mate 60 Pro uploads quickly

The results show that under a good reception environment on the CMHK network, the fastest download is the iPhone 15 Pro Max. With the 3nm chip and X70 Modem, the iPhone 15 Pro Max has the best network speed among Hong Kong network operators in urban environments. Of course, Huawei Mate 60 Pro also performs as well as it should with 5G. Although the download speed is not as good as Apple’s, there is no big gap in general use. Pay special attention to the upload speed. Mate 60 Pro beats iPhone 15 Pro Max. This is not surprising. CMHK uses Huawei equipment, and Huawei’s flagship mobile phone on 5G is that it can provide good 5G upload speeds.

This test once once more proves that Huawei Mate 60 Pro will not be a 5.5G mobile phone, and there will be no miracles in the Hong Kong network environment. But if the licensed product can be sold in Hong Kong, you have to use it to cooperate with Hong Kong’s 5G network. There will be no problem and the effect will be good, but it will definitely not be the fastest one for Internet access. As for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, it is very expensive, very expensive, very expensive, but its 5G download speed is better than Huawei.
