“A measles epidemic broke out this week in an Ardèche college and affects children in several classes,” said the Ardèche prefecture this Saturday, September 23.

Before adding: “The heads of establishments concerned were informed by the National Education services who directly informed the parents of the students. We invite all parents to check that their children’s measles vaccination is up to date.”

The Drôme National Education services have also been notified.

One or more suspected cases were detected on Friday September 22 at Charles-de-Gaulle college in Guilherand-Granges. Analyzes will have to confirm that it is indeed the disease. The heads of schools in the commune but also those in Saint-Péray and Tournon-sur-Rhône have been notified.

As a reminder, measles is a very contagious disease caused by a virus that is transmitted through respiratory secretions. The incubation lasts between 1 and 3 weeks before the first symptoms: fever, cough, runny nose, conjunctivitis, fatigue. Pimples appear on the skin 2-3 days later.
