Al-Marsad newspaper: Researchers revealed that what is believed to be the first case of its kind was recorded, in a 61-year-old man, who was seriously ill as a result of “silver leaf” disease, which raised the bewilderment of scientists.
Traces of the disease appeared in his throat, providing a rare example of apparent disease-causing agents, which might be a huge leap forward in plant-borne disease transmission.
He suffered from coughing, hoarseness, fatigue, and difficulty swallowing, and a CT scan of his throat revealed a pus-filled boil next to his windpipe.
The disease can be fatal if not treated quickly. This fungal disease is widespread in many plants, such as pears, roses, and even rose trees, where it spreads through the leaves and branches.
This fungus is called “Chondrostereum purpureum,” according to the scientific website “Science Alert.”
