US stock indices fell collectively last week, in light of the decline witnessed by Wall Street stocks on the last day of trading, Friday.
US indices closed lower following a turbulent week in which US Treasury bond yields hit their highest level in 16 years, with investors evaluating revisions to the US Federal Reserve’s monetary tightening expectations.
The three main indices fluctuated for most of the session, but fell collectively to end the week on a negative note.
Stock movements
The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined last week by 1.89 percent, and it also fell in Friday trading by 106.91 points, or 0.31 percent, to reach 33,963.51 points.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 index also declined by 10.75 points, on Friday, or 0.25 percent, to reach 4,319.25 points, recording a weekly decline of 2.93 percent.
The Nasdaq Composite Index fell by 12.18 points, or 0.09 percent, to 13,211.81 points.
Nasdaq recorded the highest weekly decline among indices, at a rate of 3.62 percent.
