“My heart stopped”, the loss of a child is by far the worst suffering a parent can experience. Vincent Rodrigue lost his little boy Philou in the summer of 2016. Now, he tells hundreds of people with resilience regarding the grief he experienced. A way for him to heal and feel close to his deceased son.
Philou’s father does not hide the fact that he is still shaken by the death of his little boy. However, telling his story to all these people helps him get through his grief. “It’s part of my journey and my healing. I might never say that I am healed from this loss, but I learned to live with it,” Vincent Rodrigue confides to TVA Nouvelles.

“It was excruciating”
His Philou died of drowning during a stay at the chalet. At bedtime, his father laid his son on the sofa bed for the first time. “We woke up the next morning and he was no longer there,” he testifies.
Unfortunately, the parents did not hear that little Philou had gotten up during the night. “We left the chalet and found him, he was floating on the water…It was excruciating, it really hurt. I felt enormously guilty regarding my little man’s accident,” he says, with emotion.

“You have to accept that you are in pain, you have to live your pain. You can’t just erase that and start once more. It doesn’t work like that, you have to empty your interior. You must not be alone in your pain… You must ask for help,” he comments.
