At least one person was killed and 15 injured, including a child, on Friday in a Russian bombing of the city of Kremenchuk in central Ukraine, the regional governor announced on Telegram.

“Fifteen are known to have been wounded, one of them is a child,” said Dmytro Lunin, governor of the Poltava region. “One person died,” he added.

In addition, the mayor of Kremenchuk, Vitali Maletski, asked citizens to refrain from publishing photos, videos, or any data regarding what happened, at the same time that he asked them to “not go near the scene” because “They are interfering with emergency services.”

Lunin explained that Russia attacked the city’s civilian infrastructure. “The enemy fired rockets at Kremenchuk. One rocket was shot down by air defense forces. Unfortunately, civil infrastructures were hit,” he said.

This week, Russian forces reached an oil refinery in Kremenchuk, a town that was already the scene at the end of June 2023 of one of the deadliest episodes since the invasion of Ukraine began, following a Russian attack ended the lives of 21 people and left several dozen injured.
