On Friday, FIFA revealed the list of candidates to win the Puskas Award for the best goal of the year 2023.
FIFA said on its website: “The list of nominees for the 2023 Puskas Award includes an impressive collection of goals for both men’s and women’s football.”
He added, “The award is named following the legendary Hungarian striker Frink Puskas, who was famous for his wonderful individual goals, and this year it will celebrate the most amazing goal in the period between December 19, 2022 and August 20, 2023.”
The FIFA list included 11 candidates this year, as follows:
• Argentine Alvaro Barreal’s goal once morest the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in the US Open Cup quarter-finals.
• Colombian Linda Caicedo’s goal once morest Germany in the group stage of the recent Women’s World Cup, which helped her team win 2-1.
• Paraguayan Julio Enchizo’s goal from 25 yards for Brighton, past City goalkeeper Ederson.
• South Korean Kang Seung-jin’s goal once morest Jordan in the U-20 Asian Cup.
• Australian Sam Kerr’s goal once morest the England team in the Women’s World Cup.
• Brian Lozano’s goal once morest CF America in the Mexican League.
• Botafogo player Guillerme Madruga’s goal once morest Novozontino in the Brazilian League.
• Ibiza player Ivan Morante’s goal once morest Burgos in the Spanish second division.
• Nuno Santos’ goal for Sporting Lisbon once morest Boavista in the Portuguese League.
• Ashot Tagebergen’s goal once morest Denmark in the European Nations Cup qualifiers.
• Brazilian Beatrice Zanerato’s goal once morest Panama’s national team in the Women’s World Cup.
