MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team travels to the Lock Haven Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 23. The race will be held at the West Branch Cross Country Course in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.

The Mountaineers will compete in the Women’s Crimson Race, the 6k is slated for 10:45 a.m. ET. Fans who are unable to attend can follow along with live stats at WVUsports.com.

West Virginia is one of 48 teams competing at the invitational, featuring teams within Division I, II, III and at the club level.

The squad ranks fourth in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Rankings and is receiving votes in the coaches poll released by (USTFCCA), the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association earlier this week.

“Our hope for this weekend were to run a larger percentage of our team, unfortunately we have had a frustrating couple of weeks with sickness, aches and pains,” WVU coach Sean Cleary said. “We will continue to piece the group together as we inch closer to the championship portion of our schedule.”

The Mountaineers return to the grass following competing in the RMU Colonial Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Youthetown Fields in Clinton, Pa. West Virginia finished third overall with a team score of 83. Freshman Lexi Lamb collected the gold medal in the women’s 5k with a time of 17:27.40, followed by freshman Audrey Hall in second, putting up a 17:31.15 finish.
