Ubisoft has revealed that The Division 3 is in the early stages of development.
In an official statement, the company said that Julian Gerighty, who is creative director of Star Wars Outlaws, will be appointed executive director of The Division franchise, taking care of its future.
As part of the announcement, Ubisoft confirmed that The Division 3 will be one of the projects overseen by Gerighty and that Massive Entertainment will be the project’s main developer, as was done with the previous two games.
As executive producer, he will actively participate in the development of The Division games and products. The goal is for several interdependent elements of the franchise to have a unified direction.
This will include overseeing development, operations and creative vision with teams around the world working on the mobile game Tom Clancy’s The Division Resurgence, Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland and Tom Clancy’s The Division 2.

However, Ubisoft says that Gerighty will continue working on Star Wars Outlaws until the game is finished developing and delivering the experience players want.
A few months ago, Gerighty talked regarding Star Wars Outlaws and said that the size of a planet might be the equivalent of two Assassin’s Creed Odyssey maps. In terms of plot, the game will take place between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, starring outlaw protagonist Kay Vest.
