What if we told you that there is a fairly obscure method in Starfield to go faster and unlock aerial dashes with your Jet-Pack? We explain the procedure to follow to become much more mobile!
Getting around Starfield
With a game as vast and varied as Starfield, you probably suspect that part of your playing time will be dedicated to exploration, whether in space while wandering around in your ship, or on foot on the many planets waiting for you. But the methods of movement are ultimately a little limited by the fact that there are no vehicles in Starfield to date. You will therefore have to just walk, or use your Jet-Pack if you want to speed up a little. This, by being improved via your skills, will actually allow you to be more mobile.
But what if we told you that there is a slightly special trick with the Jet-Pack to make it even more useful during your exploration sessions? It won’t be for everyone, but it might just make your life easier.
Go faster with your Jet-Pack? It’s possible !
First of all, it is important to specify that this trick is only possible on the PC version of Starfield, and with keyboard + mouse. You will therefore not be able to take advantage of it if you play on Xbox, or on PC with a controller.
Let’s summarize the use of the Jet-Pack in Starfield. By putting a skill point to unlock it, it will allow you when you jump to have a floating effect, which will send you slightly into the air or forward depending on the art of your jump. Which is quite practical for moving around, even more so on planets with low gravity. But a very interesting hidden function was found on the PC version of the game. Indeed, it is ”’possible to use the Jet-Pack to do dashes, and also to greatly accelerate your movements with it. And everything will be decided… in the game options! Here are the steps to follow :
On the keyboard and mouse, press Esc Then click on OptionsClick on ShortcutsSlightly scroll down the shortcuts until you see Sauter in the listDo not change the shortcut Space bar, but rather click on the box on the right, to assign a second shortcut there. We advise you to put the L ALT key (the ALT key which is located between the Windows button and Space on your keyboard)
You will have understood, the principle is to add a second shortcut to the jump key. Now, when you use it in the air, you will have the option to dash in the direction you are going, which is very useful and optimized for exploring, but also during combat. We don’t know if a patch will make this trick disappear, but it would ultimately be interesting to also have it on the controller, as it allows exploration to be a little more active and faster!
