That’s it: training camps are underway in the NHL. At the Canadian, this morning, there were already players who clashed and there will be others this followingnoon.
It feels good, right?
But it’s not just the CH that’s getting ready. Elsewhere in the NHL, we can also get news of what is happening among former CH players for whom things are going less well (on paper, at least) and for whom things are going well.
And on this subject, let’s talk regarding Jonathan Drouin.
When Jonathan Drouin signed in Colorado (despite more lucrative offers elsewhere), we suspected that there was Nathan MacKinnon behind it all. After all, the two made rain and shine in Halifax, in the QMJHL.
Seeing Drouin sign in Denver potentially opened the door to seeing them play together… and it happened This morning. That might change, obviously, but that’s the case right now.

During the summer, we sometimes saw the guys skating together. That said, everyone knows that there is a limit to saying, in the middle of July, that the two accomplices will play together on the basis of informal practices.
But when a coach puts them together as part of an official camp practice, that’s a bigger clue.
10 years following winning the Memorial Cup, they’re in a different position (Nathan MacKinnon has the highest average salary in the NHL this year… and Jonathan Drouin makes less than a million dollars), but if they regain their chemistry ? Attention.
This morning, it was Mikko Rantanen who was on their right. Will this trio be the club’s first in October? To have.
Let’s also remember that Artturi Lehkonen and Tomas Tatar are also in Denver at the moment. We can think that the first will play on the second line and that the second will be in the bottom-6. Cedi said, as with Drouin, things can change quickly.
