The 2018 Geely Coolray we know will soon turn into the Belgee X50: the Belarusian enterprise Belgee began producing cars under its own brand last summer, and in the near future they will appear at Russian dealers. And the updated Coolray will appear in the local range of the Geely brand: its characteristics and configurations have been revealed today.

In China, such a restyled SUV debuted a year ago, where it is called Geely Binyue Cool. At the front, it is distinguished by a different bumper and headlights, as well as a larger grille. Moldings, wheels and sill trims have been updated. And at the rear, the lights are now connected by an LED strip, plus the trunk lid and bumper with diffuser have been changed. The length of the Coolrey has increased by 50 mm (now 4380 mm), width by 10 mm (to 1810 mm), and height by 6 mm (to 1615 mm). Geely does not report changes in ground clearance; for the current Coolrey it is 180 mm.

Large-scale changes have occurred in the salon. And although the Russian office of Geely has not yet published images of the interior, we can assume that it will be the same as that of the Chinese Binyue Cool. The designers removed the block of keys for auxiliary systems from the central tunnel. The “robot” selector handle has acquired a new look, and under it there is a drum for selecting driving modes (to which the adaptive Smart program has been added). The instrument screen (10.25 inches) is now without a visor and is visually combined with the media system display (12.3 inches). The massive handles disappeared from the door panels.

The number of exhaust pipes now corresponds to the number of cylinders: instead of a turbocharged engine, the updated Coolray is equipped with a four-cylinder BHE15 turbo engine, developed jointly with Volvo. The working volume is the same 1.5 liters, power for the Russian market is 147 hp. (in China 181 hp) instead of 150 in the pre-reform car with three cylinders. But the torque increased from 255 to 270 Nm. The engine works in conjunction with a seven-speed preselective “robot”. The chassis design has not changed: McPherson struts are installed at the front and semi-independent suspension at the rear.

On the Russian market, the updated Geely Coolray will be offered in four trim levels – Comfort, Luxury, Flagship and Exclusive. The basic version includes two airbags, ESP, heated all seats, steering wheel and windshield, remote engine start system, rear view camera, rear parking sensors, cruise control and 17-inch wheels. The Luxury version is distinguished by the presence of side airbags, a panoramic roof, a keyless entry system and 18-inch wheels.

The Flagship package boasts exterior decor (red brake calipers, black roof, rear spoiler), adaptive cruise control, all-round cameras, blind spot monitoring system, wireless charging and other options. And the fourth version, called Exclusive, differs from the Flagship version only in the color scheme: this SUV has two-tone wheels and the signature color “lilac pearl.”

The Russian representative office of Geely promises to start selling restyled cars by the end of autumn, but prices have not yet been announced. Now the pre-reform Coolray costs 2.3-2.7 million rubles, and there is a suspicion that the updated cars will become more expensive. Firstly, they will no longer be supplied from Belarus, but from China, and secondly, the price increase should distance this Coolray from the Belgee X50 model (2.2-2.45 million rubles).
