New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov has probably found a way to thwart the predictions of his general manager Lou Lamoriello, who expected to see him shine by his absence on the ice.

As “The Hockey News” magazine clearly showed, the former Montreal Canadiens skated with good intensity Thursday morning. The hockey player mentioned to the same source that he is at his best physically, describing his return to form as not pleasant. However, the CEO had recently declared that there was a good chance of seeing the Russian start training camp late.

Romanov went under the knife following his team’s elimination once morest the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the 2023 playoffs. With a shoulder injury, he missed the last five games of the regular season and the first two of the clash once morest the Caroline. Having been acquired from the Habs in July 2022, he collected 22 points in his initial year on Long Island, totaling 129 blocked shots and 198 hits.
