Harrisburg: The area is on high alert following regarding eight thousand minks (a species of the aquatic family living in America and Europe) escaped from a farm in the American state of Pennsylvania. The animals were rescued from a mink farm in Rockefeller Township, regarding 60 miles from Harrisburg. Authorities have requested local residents not to approach or try to catch them if found. Hundreds of minks that have escaped from the cage are running along the nearby highway and other places.
The minks escaped en masse on Sunday morning. The farm operators found a hole that someone had deliberately cut in the wire cage that kept them in. The Pennsylvania State Police concluded that someone had rescued them. Rumor has it that they were rescued by an actor.

State Sen. Linda Schlegel Culver warned in a statement that minks are dangerous and can bite local residents. Officials advised not to approach or attempt to catch minks without safe and scientific trapping. Animal protection workers and farm workers have stepped in to catch them.
The Northumberland County Department of Emergency Management said anyone who sees live or dead minks should call them immediately.
