It’s been nine years since action movie fans last had the chance to see their favorite action actors reunited in one movie. After a long wait, the fourth installment of the “The Expendables” saga – also known as “Expend4bles” – will premiere this September 21 in all cinemas nationwide.

The franchise, which began in 2010 with the first appearance of great action film actors in a film that exploited the best of this film genre, returns under the direction of Scott Waugh (“Need for Speed”), who is in charge to bring to the big screen the long-awaited sequel that promises to be even more violent than the previous ones, in addition to maintaining action scenes as captivating as those seen in the 2014 and 2012 films.

In this new installment, the team led by Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) returns to face a mission that might trigger a Third World War. To carry out this dangerous task, Ross will once once more turn to his friend Lee Christmas (Jason Statham) to gather a group of prominent mercenaries in order to put an end to a great conspiracy that seeks to generate a nuclear conflict between States. United States and Russia.

Luxury cast

As is common in any franchise, there have been changes to the cast over the years. Arnold Schwarzenegger – who made cameos in the three previous installments of the saga – will not participate this time. The actor explained that his participation in the previous installments was a gesture of friendship towards Stallone, but on this occasion he has decided to step aside. “I did ‘The Expendables’ as a favor to Stallone. Then he said to me, ‘Oh, can you do ‘The Expendables 2?’ and I did it over a weekend. Then he expanded for ‘The Expendables 3’. And that was it. We will do something together one day.”, commented Schwarzenegger in an interview with the media “Parade”. Likewise, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Bruce Willis will not participate, the latter due to the frontotemporal dementia disorder that he revealed in early 2022.

Despite these notable absences from the cast of “The Expendables 4,” the cast continues to maintain a high profile. Actors who had already appeared in previous installments such as Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture are back. They are joined by new faces such as Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, Andy García, 50 Cent, Megan Fox and Iko Uwais, who will play the villain in this fourth installment.

Like the previous films in the saga, this new film receives criticism regarding its general narrative and dialogues, something that its audience does not seem to care regarding, because if something characterizes “The Expendables”, it is its scenes of continuous action and without hesitation, seeking to bring out the best in each of the actors that make up the cast. This time, the film has a rating for over 18 years due to its high violence content.

A few days following its premiere, its main competitor in theaters, “The Equalizer 3″, seems to have lost the public’s interest, leaving room for an action film that sweeps the box office in what seems to be the last installment of the saga where We will see Sylvester Stallone firing weapons, dealing punches and breaking bones left and right, who will later be replaced by Statham as the protagonist of the following adventures of one of the most popular pure action sagas.
