Saudi with change in media field. Saudi Arabia is preparing to bring a unified system in the field of print, visual, audio and digital media. The Saudi cabinet has recently approved the conditions in this regard. The General Authority for Media Regulation, an organization formed for this purpose, said that the unified system is being brought to ensure transparent and reliable content in the media sector.

The existing General Authority for Audio Visual Media has been converted into General Authority for Media Regulation. Bringing all categories of media under one umbrella is part of the ‘Vision 2030’ action plan. This decision is to organize, develop, empower and transform the media sector into accountable institutions.
The roles and responsibilities of the authority have been expanded under the new provisions. With this, the General Authority for Media Regulation will be the responsible authority over all types of media. There will be constant monitoring and control of the media by the authorities. The authority will also be responsible for digital media content on social media platforms.

The Authority is responsible for nurturing media talent, increasing the role of Saudi youth through training and development programs, facilitating procedures, providing infrastructure and creating an attractive environment for investors in the media sector.
