Dubai: The opportunity to become a member of the mandatory unemployment insurance scheme implemented by the UAE without penalty is only ten more days.

This was informed by the UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. Citizens and foreign residents eligible for the unemployment insurance scheme are advised to register for the scheme before October 1, 2023.

The authority also clarified that a fine of 400 dirhams will be charged following the deadline. While employers have the option to register their employees in the insurance scheme, it is the responsibility of the employee to register in the scheme, the ministry said.

The law applies to all workers and citizens in the private and federal sectors, foreign residents and investors, business sector workers, domestic workers and temporary workers.

Enrollment in the scheme can be done through the ILOE (Involuntary Loss of Employment) insurance website (www.iloe.ae, ILOE), smartphone application, kiosks, business service centers and exchange companies through banks’ smartphones.
