The National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec) will release this followingnoon the unemployment rate corresponding to the second quarter of this year.
At the end of the first quarter, it stood at 6.9%, which represented a drop of one tenth compared to the 7% registered in the same period of 2022.
Compared to the last quarter of last year, when the index was 6.3%, the rate reflected an increase of six tenths of a point.
For its part, in the first quarter, the activity rate – which measures the economically active population (EAP) over the total population – was 48.3%, and the employment rate (ET) – which reflects the proportion of employed people in relation to the total population – was 45%.
Meanwhile, the underemployment rate was 9.4%, while the employed demanders and the available non-demanding employed workers reached, together, 10.6% of the economically active population.
