In this context, former Chairman of the Parliamentary Health Committee, Assem Araji, confirmed that “during the months of September and October of each year, everyone is supposed to take the influenza vaccine,” recalling that “when the influenza was discovered in 1918, it caused the death of millions, and it was much more dangerous than the Corona virus.” “.

Especially since changing weather increases the rate of viral infections among citizens.”

He touched on the new variant of Corona, where he stressed that “it is not dangerous, but if a citizen is infected with the Corona virus in conjunction with influenza, he will be greatly affected, so the vaccine will reduce the severity of the disease.”

Araji advised, “Everyone should take the influenza vaccine, but of course the dose of the vaccine is much lower for children who are 5 years old and above than for the elderly, and therefore the vaccine should be taken once a year, and it is preferable to take it in late September and early October.”

He pointed out that “the vaccine does not prevent influenza infection, but its severity rate will be much lower, and even if there is no new variant of the Corona virus, we advise everyone to receive the vaccine, especially the elderly, and everyone who suffers from chronic diseases.”

Araji concluded, stressing that “the flu is not a ‘cold’, and you must be vaccinated to protect yourselves, especially since the flu sometimes causes death if it strikes the lungs or even the heart muscle.”
