Chennai: The schedule of the second Vande Bharat Express to Kerala has been released. The train starts from Kasaragod at 7 am and reaches Thiruvananthapuram at 3.05 pm. The return journey is at 4.05 pm. The journey will end at Kasaragod at 11.55 pm. The new service will start on Sunday.
The previously sanctioned Vandebharat Express will be operated via Kottayam. However, the newly sanctioned train will operate via Alappuzha. In case of lack of platform availability at Thiruvananthapuram Central Station, the service will be till Kochuveli in the first phase.
Stops have been sanctioned at Kannur, Kozhikode, Shornur, Thrissur, Ernakulam South, Alappuzha and Kollam. The travel time from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram is eight hours. The journey time of the return service is 7.55 hours. The service will be six days a week.
Apart from this, two more Vandebharat services have been allotted to Southern Railway. The other two are Chennai Central-Vijayawada and Chennai Egmore-Tirunalveli services.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the service. The train allotted to Kerala will also be flagged off with the new nine Vande Bharat Expresses. Vande Bharat test run from Chennai Basin Bridge to Katpadi.
