The unemployment rate in Wallonia stood at 14% in August compared to 13.5% in August 2022, according to data published Monday by Forem. At the end of August, Wallonia had 227,001 unemployed job seekers.
On an annual basis, the number of unemployed job seekers increased by 3.5%, an increase of 7,702 people who “is due, essentially, to the automatic maintenance in the category of freely registered persons since January 1, 2022“.
The change in job demand is on the rise compared to the month of July. The decrease in the number of job seekers seeking benefits (-2,992 people) is offset by the increase in young people on integration training, observed each year at the same period.
