Exploring the Sun: ISRO’s Aditya L1 Mission Sets Course for Lagrange 1

Bengaluru: ISRO says that India’s solar mission Aditya L1 has left Earth’s orbit. Trans Lagrangian point insertion is also reported successfully. In the next 110 days, the spacecraft will reach L1. This is the fifth time that ISRO has launched a probe into orbit.

The probe will be stationed at Lagrange 1 to explore the Sun. The Lagrange point is the most suitable point for studying the Sun. Once Aditya L 1 reaches this point, a halo will enter orbit and continue the mission.

ISRO said that Aditya L1 had started its exploration even before it started its journey to Lagrange Point 1. ISRO Xil noted that the probe has begun collecting data that will help scientists analyze the behavior of particles around Earth.

Aditya L1 collects scientific information regarding microscopic particles and electrically charged particles 50,000 km from Earth.

ISRO hopes that the data collected by the probe will provide new information on the origin, acceleration and anisotropy of the solar wind and space weather phenomena.
