President Yoon said, “I look forward to working together with Sri Lanka, Korea’s key development cooperation partner, with the goal of a long-term partnership in areas such as development cooperation, labor, climate change response, and trade and investment.”

In particular, President Yoon emphasized, “We will continue to discover cooperative projects that contribute to creating jobs for youth, such as the ‘Korea-Sri Lanka Central Vocational Training Institute’.”

In response, President Workramasingha said, “Sri Lankans who received training in Korea are working in their home country as highly skilled, high-quality workers. I hope that in the future, we will pursue a ‘trade and investment cooperation agreement’ with Korea, leading to more active trade and investment between the two countries.” “He responded.

President Workramasingha also expressed his gratitude for Korea’s support for Sri Lanka and said, “I hope to continue to expand cooperation with Korea in areas such as ICT, trade, labor, regional development, and cultural exchange.”

He added, “I hope that more Korean companies will show interest and invest in Sri Lanka in the future.”

The leaders of the two countries agreed to quickly conclude the ‘Korea-Sri Lanka Climate Change Cooperation Agreement’, which is currently being negotiated, and to use this meeting as an opportunity to promote more active exchanges between the two countries.

President Yoon asked President Wickramasingha for support in hosting the 2030 Busan World Expo (Expo).

Meanwhile, President Yoon plans to hold a series of bilateral meetings with leaders of at least 30 countries during his 4-night, 6-day visit to New York, starting with Sri Lanka.
