Vienna/Salzburg (OTS) – ASFINAG strongly rejects the allegations made today by Salzburg’s WKO President Peter Buchmüller on the ORF program “Salzburg today”. Buchmüller’s criticism of ASFINAG management and construction site planning is factually incorrect and lacks any professional expertise.
For more than two years, ASFINAG has been informing politicians and the Chamber of Commerce comprehensively and transparently regarding the urgency of renewing the five (not ten as Buchmüller incorrectly claimed) tunnels between Golling andwerfen.
The project was accompanied by a package of measures to expand public transport as well as commuter parking spaces and a broad communication campaign in the state. The individual renovation of just one tunnel proposed by Buchmüller would increase the construction time fivefold to ten years and lead to a much higher burden on the population. The amateurish “suggestions” put forward regarding a phased renovation of the tunnels would not only prolong the single-lane “bottleneck” on the A 10 for many years, but would also massively increase the risk of a system failure – and thus a complete closure of the A 10.
TU professor and traffic planner Günter Embacher, who, unlike the President of the Chamber of Commerce, deals with construction, was also convinced today on ORF that the simultaneous renovation of all five tunnels is the most sensible solution.
Construction site management is a core competency of the mobility partner ASFINAG – the company handles more than 300 large construction sites every year in a highly professional manner and invests more than a billion euros in traffic safety and the business location. It should be clear to the President of the Chamber of Commerce that the renewal of the A 10 as a regional “lifeline” is indispensable both for traffic safety and for the thousands of businesses.
