Announced at the start, the 29-year-old player signed up “as part of a permanent transfer”, specifies Paris Saint-Germain in a press release.
For its part, Al-Ahli SC, which plays in the Qatari championship, specified that Draxler was joining the club “until the summer of 2025”.
Arriving in January 2017 from Wolfsburg, Germany, Julian Draxler played 198 matches in the Rouge et Bleu jersey (26 goals) before being loaned last season to Benfica Lisbon.
Crowned French champion four times (2018, 2019, 2020, 2022), world champion in 2014 with Germany, Draxler has never managed to establish himself as a major player in Paris.
He expressed his “joy” at joining the Qatari championship, assuring that he “did not hesitate” to go to Al-Ahli. He promised to do “everything possible” to meet the expectations of the club and its supporters.
The German joins in Qatar another former Parisian midfielder, Marco Verratti, who left PSG for the club Al-Arabi SC, as did defender Abdou Diallo.
