In the midst of a situation marked by inflation, scarcity of reserves, debate and political uncertainty, This Monday, September 25, the 2023 edition of the PULSO Day arrives at the Casino Magic in the city of Neuquén. The event organized by RÍO NEGRO is the most important economic forum in Patagoniaand every year it brings together the highest figures in politics and the national economy.
The 2022 edition is remembered for the visit of the then Minister of Economy of the Nation, Martín Guzmán. His statements at the PULSO 2022 Conference meant the beginning of the end of his time in the current government.
In a shot to elevate Kirchnerism that put his management in check, Guzmán shot: “I focus on the management that the President of the Nation has entrusted to me and “I do not get involved in issues related to power disputes.”. Two months later he was out of government.
This year, the grid will be made up of a panel of excellence and national relevance, and national politics will once once more be the protagonist.
The block dedicated to politics will be headed by consultant Gustavo Córdoba, political scientist and founder of Zuban & Córdoba Asociados. The Córdoba analyst was one of the few who was right in relation to the political scenario in Neuquén prior to the provincial elections last April, and the only one who warned regarding a possible victory for Javier Milei before the PASO in August.
In the economic segment, Emmanuel Álvarez Ágis will speak first. Lastly and As in the 2022 edition, Carlos Melconian will take the stage once more.
The renowned economist was the one chosen by Patricia Bullrich to lead the economic team of a potential Together for Change government from 2024.
Beyond its historical presence in the media and its urban, plain language, close to ordinary people, Melconian has been working for two years on a government program for the period 2027. It does so as president of the Institute of Studies on Argentine and Latin American Reality (IERAL) of the Mediterranean Foundation, and together with a team of 70 professionals.
That was the plan that Bullrich valued and chose to establish the direction of his possible presidential administration.
Since his announcement as a possible economy minister, Melconian has taken the lead role as the economic voice of Together for Change heading into the general elections.
Playing that role, he has questioned the idea of dollarizing the economy proposed by the La Libertad Avanza candidate, Javier Milei, and has begun to deploy the general guidelines of what his management program might be. “In the end, what gives strength to the currency is that one has an economic policy that makes a strong currency,” he said this week during an interview with TN.
