The car-free day will end around 7 p.m. Here is the balance sheet.
The Brussels Minister of Mobility, Elke Van den Brandt, explains that “This 23rd edition of Car-Free Sunday was a great success. We do not deplore any major accident, the Stib network was loaded, but not saturated, because it had planned reinforcements.”
Citizens respected the highway code: “According to the police, the situation on the main roads was fluid. There were people moving around with courtesy“, continues the minister. “The vast majority of motorists who were driving were in possession of one of the 15,500 exemptions“.

“I would like to propose a car-free Sunday every month“, concludes Elke Van den Brandt.
Walter Derieuw, spokesperson for Siamu Brussels, indicates that 238 medical interventions took place during the car-free day. Among them, 41 concerned accidents on public roads (falling while cycling, scootering, etc.).
