Artificial Intelligence Chatbot Outperforms 17 Doctors in Diagnosing Chronic Disease: A Mother’s Journey

Artificial intelligence outperformed 17 doctors in diagnosing a chronic disease.

The chatbot “GPT Chat” succeeded in finding out the truth regarding the health condition that a child suffered over the course of three years, following all those doctors failed to achieve that goal, according to the British newspaper “The Independent” website.

GBT Chat helped the child’s mother determine the cause of the debilitating pain that her son had been complaining regarding throughout that period, which began when he was four years old.

Courtney, who chose not to reveal her last name, explained yesterday that her son Alex began suffering difficult symptoms during the pandemic caused by the new Corona virus (Covid 19).

She said that the family nanny advised her to give Alex painkillers daily, otherwise he would suffer tremendous pain, noting that this helped relieve her child’s pain, but other worrying symptoms began to appear.

She added that her son began to suffer from problems in his mouth, which made her think that he had tooth decay, pointing out that the medical examination proved otherwise.

She continued that Alex continued to suffer, and she soon noticed that he had stopped growing and was no longer walking properly, and he was suffering from severe headaches and fatigue.

Courtney’s family then met with a slew of doctors to try to figure out what was wrong, including a pediatrician, a neurologist, and an ear, nose and throat specialist.

She confirmed that she consulted 17 doctors, but they did not provide any real solutions or treatments to end the poor child’s problem.

Three years later, Courtney decided to resort to GPT Chat, which was designed by OpenAI and released in 2022.

The experience led Courtney to discover tethered cord syndrome, and then she made an appointment with a neurosurgeon, who confirmed to her that Alex had a tethered spinal cord, which is a congenital defect that causes developmental problems and is often not discovered until a late stage.

She confirmed that she felt relieved at the time, noting that technology helped her family provide the best possible care for her son.
