The play-offs in sight for the Neuchâtel Hockey Academy. Yan Gigon’s team resumes the Women’s League championship on Sunday followingnoon on the Langenthal ice. After missing the final series last season, the Littoral team hopes to reach the play-offs this year. To achieve this, the Hirondelles welcome three new mercenaries: the American Truax Madison and the Canadians Lilla Carpenter-Boesch and Kristen Guerreiro. The latter arrives from Montreal, following a one-season stopover in Budapest. She is looking forward to taking on this new challenge: “I’m excited for the season to start and I can’t wait to be able to help the young players,” explains the defender.

The big clubs also in the game

This 2023/2024 season promises to be special for the NHA. Some renowned clubs in the country have recently entered this category of play. Friborg and Ambri have appeared in the last two years. For their part, Bern took over the Bomo Thun team and Davos took over Thurgau in the off-season.

Radical changes which have good things, but also some negative points. “With these arrivals from big clubs, the players will finally have a financial return for all their sacrifices. But this must be maintained over time,” believes the coach of the Neuchâtel Hockey Academy, Yan Gigon.

The “little Gaul” for the surprise

In addition to a fourth place in the championship, synonymous with participation in the play-offs, the leaders of the NHA are aiming for participation in the “final four” of the Swiss Cup. “It is a particularly followed and publicized event. Taking part would be a nice spotlight,” explains the president of the Neuchâtel club, Laure Aeschlimann.

But, before these deadlines, time for the 28 days of the championship. The Neuchâtel Hockey Academy begins its exercise once morest Langenthal, Sunday at 5:30 p.m. “We are the little Gauls and we intend to annoy the big Romans this season”, image with a smiling Yan Gigon to conclude. /gjo
