Multilingual Poetry Symposium: Exploring Love and the Universal in Catalan, Spanish, German, and French

Invited by Teresa Wennberg, several poets met in Sainte-Marie Abbey, in the crypt room. They were welcomed by Catherine Barnèdes, culture assistant, and presented by Helene Svahnstrom. The spectators had the pleasure of hearing Toni Clapès, from southern Catalonia who since 1964 has published around twenty collections of poetry and translated authors such as Paul Valéry and René Char into Catalan; Marta Pera, Catalan poet and translator of a hundred books by classic English and German authors; Rosa Creixell, born in Mexico and living in Barcelona, ​​poet, illustrator and photographer; Dolors Udina, professor and translator of numerous English authors, notably Virginia Woolf; Udo Kawasser from Vienna, author of four books of poetry, translator of Hispanic texts and founder of the largest poetry festival in Austria; Teresa Shaw from Uruguay living in Barcelona, ​​graduate of comparative literature and philology, translator and author; Corina Oproae, a Romanian poet and translator from Barcelona who published an anthology of 20th-century Romanian poetry in Spanish and several books of poetry; Svante Svahnstrom, Swedish poet who writes in Swedish, French or Occitan and enjoys intertwining words from multiple languages; finally, the artist Teresa Wennberg from Stockholm, residing in Arles, author of two books of haiku poems.

Whether spoken in Catalan, Spanish, German or French, the poems always sing of love and the wind, the ineffable and the universal.
