Windows 11 Preview – Canal Canary du programme Windows Insider

For several days a new build of Windows 11 has been offered through the Canary channel. This build 25951 introduces two new features around the network. We also have known issues.

Being on the Canary channel Microsoft reminds that the release note only offers the most notable facts. Clearly, the documentation only focuses on the major new features and the most important known issues.

Windows 11 Build 25951, the highlights

Windows 11 Build 25951 upgrades the SMB client now with NTLM blocking for remote outgoing connections. A system administrator can now prevent Windows from offering NTLM over SMB. The firm explains

An attacker who tricks a user or application into sending NTLM challenge responses to a malicious server will no longer receive NTLM data and will not be able to brute force, crack, or pass a password because it will never be sent over the network .

For businesses this is a new level of protection that does not require completely disabling the use of NTLM in the operating system.

At the same time, the SMB server now supports control of the SMB 2 and 3 dialects that it will negotiate. An administrator can now remove older SMB protocols, preventing older, less secure, lower performance Windows devices and third parties from connecting.

Among the various known problems, one concerns players. Some popular games may not work properly. There are also issues accessing the print queue.
