Arne Joswig (60) is the new president of the Central Association of the German Motor Vehicle Industry (ZDK). At today’s general meeting in Regensburg, the delegates elected him as the successor to Jürgen Karpinski (73), who did not run once more following nine years in office.
For the first time in the association’s history there was an opposing candidate, Burkhard Weller (69). Joswig received an absolute majority in the first round of voting. Predecessor Jürgen Karpinksi was appointed honorary president at the meeting.
The two ZDK vice-presidents Thomas Peckruhn (spokesman for the manufacturer trade) and Detlef Peter Grün (Federal Guild Master for the automotive trade) were confirmed in office. Michael Kraft remains treasurer.
Jürgen Hasler (54) will become Managing Director of Politics on September 16, 2023. After twelve years in office, he replaces Dr. Christoph Konrad (65), who is retiring at the end of the year. Hasler comes from the Federation of German Industries (BDI), where he headed the Mobility and Logistics department from 2017 to 2020 and is currently responsible for the Strategic Planning and Coordination department. The father of the family studied political science, European/international law and economic policy in Bonn and Paris as well as an MBA from the University of Economics and Law in Berlin. (aum)
