In its first meeting the day before yesterday, following its new formation, headed by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, for the 2023-2027 electoral cycle, the Board of Directors of the UAE Football Association drew its roadmap for its work for the next stage, where it decided on four important files, represented by the formation of committees and the approval of Its presidents and deputies, in addition to discussing the new organizational structure, reducing, canceling and merging some committees, and discussing the file of preparing the teams for future elections, as this file constitutes a major priority for the new Board of Directors of the Football Association.

The Federation reduced its main committees and abolished the National Teams Committee, whose responsibility was transferred to the technical administration and will become concerned with the national team file by developing plans and programs for the national teams, especially since the Football Association realizes that the national teams are entering a very important stage in the history of Emirates football, especially the first national team that will participate in the Cup finals. Asia 2023, scheduled in Qatar next January, as well as the joint qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup and the 2027 Asian Cup, and the Olympic team will participate in the AFC U-23 Cup finals, also scheduled in Qatar.

The sports street is awaiting the new formation of the administration, which will undertake the process of fully supervising the teams that were previously affiliated with the National Teams and Technical Affairs Committee before its abolition. The Union discussed the work of the administrative system as part of its efforts to bring regarding a new shift and benefit from previous experiences that accompanied the work of previous boards of directors.

It seems clear that the Union is seeking, by reducing committees, merging them, and canceling some of them, to follow a policy away from administrative laxity and the multiplicity of committees and departments within the Union. This is in harmony with the new organizational structure that was announced during the first meeting, but it did not fully reveal its features.

During its first meeting, the Football Association’s main committees were limited to six, namely competitions, finance, referees, women’s football, sports medicine, and beach soccer, and the presidency of the competitions committee was assigned to the second vice president of the federation, Obaid Al Shamsi.

At the level of the Finance Committee, Council Member Hisham Al Zarouni returned to chairing it once more following he had served as its Chairman in a previous period. Council Member Amal Bouchlakh retained the Chairmanship of the Women’s Football Committee, which she had held for years, and Salem Ali Al Shamsi retained the Chairmanship of the Referees Committee for the second session in a row, even though he He is currently not a member of the Football Association’s Board of Directors following being a member of the previous Board of Directors.

Omar Al-Hai Al-Muhairi is considered one of the new faces in the membership of the Football Association’s Board of Directors. He previously served as a member of the Disciplinary Committee, and was assigned to the Beach Soccer Committee in the new formation. Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayyid Al-Hashimi also retained the chairmanship of the Sports Medicine Committee, even though he is not a member of the Football Association’s Board of Directors.
