At the end of 2022, work began on the construction of the plant that will allow the arrival of sewer service, improving the quality of life of residents of the towns of González Catán, Viceroy of the Pinethe western sector of Rafael Castillo y Laferrere.
“Together with the mayor, Fernando Espinoza, we were committed to the needs of the neighbors, and we reactivated these works that had been promised between 2016 and 2019 but had never started. Today, this long-awaited work is a reality. With it, we will not only bring sewage service to more than 150,000 inhabitants, but also more health and quality of life to every corner of La Matanza“, expressed the president of AySA, Malena Galmarini.
The objective of the plant is to treat the sewage liquid that enters, both with physical and biological treatments, using conventional activated sludge technology to dump the treated effluent into the Matanza River in optimal conditions, complying with the highest quality standards, to reduce environmental impact.
The plant will reach a coverage area of approximately 90 km2 and will have a treatment capacity in a first stage with the first of its Modules of an average flow of 0.52 m3/s and a peak flow of 0.84 m3/s, which will dump the treated effluent through a conduit to the Matanza-Riachuelo River. Concrete actions will be taken to comply with the objectives of the Comprehensive Environmental Sanitation Plan of ACCUME for the sanitation of the basin.
Currently, the civil works have a progress percentage of 10.2% with the movement of soils and general fills in various sectors, concreting of structures and aeration tanks, cleaning concrete, concrete in administrative buildings, and in addition, work has also begun. to the electromechanical works of the plant.
The land where it is being built has a total area of 89 hectares and is located near the confluence of Arroyo Morales with the Matanza River, in the area “Poplars” from the town of Virrey del Pino.
This great work that AySA is carrying out is financed by the National State, highlighting the importance of access to essential services such as sewage sanitation for neighbors. Thanks to this plant, the company will be able to have the treatment capacity to be able to incorporate the residents of the Matanza district who still do not have the service.
In addition to reactivating this important work, since the beginning of Malena Galmarini’s management, AySA has been carrying out a total of 159 works in La Matanza that will benefit more than 152,000 inhabitants, both with the arrival of water and sewage services, as well as their improvement. Of the total of these works, 141 have already been completed.
