A fight between middle school students took place in Ninove Thursday evening following school. The East Flanders public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation, Ninove police said.
Ninove police were informed of a fight Thursday evening. The event which took place outside the school was filmed by passers-by. Ninove police attended the scene and made an official report. “The facts relating to the brawl are the subject of a criminal investigation carried out by the East Flanders public prosecutor’s office,” police said. “We would like to highlight that creators and disseminators of images are also guilty of criminal offenses and we call on people to use their phones to notify emergency services instead of producing and disseminating violent images.
Ninove Police will deploy additional patrols in the school area at the start and end of classes. Mayor Tanja De Jonge (Open VLD) announced that she would contact the school management and that she was considering a ban on access. “Violence is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Many parents of school-age children are rightly concerned, hence the intention to enter into dialogue with the school to agree measures.
