Sony took everyone by surprise this week by holding a new edition of the State of Play event, which brought highlights such as the DLC for Resident Evil 4 Remake, the release date for Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, and a new trailer for Marvel’s Spider- Man 2, but in addition, the Japanese giant also took advantage of fan hype to reveal new customization options for the PS5 and colors of the DualSense controller.
The Deep Earth Collection offers three new colors for the DualSense wireless controller and PS5 console covers, and all have a metallic finish. They are: the intense Volcanic Red, the beautiful Cobalt Blue and the sophisticated Sterling Silver.
Satoshi Aoyagi and Leo Cardoso, members of the PlayStation design team, spoke a little more regarding the new collection:
To create the new collection of colors for the DualSense controller and PS5 console covers, the team was inspired by the beautiful and powerful tones found deep within planet Earth. We added a metallic finish to elevate the colors and give it a sophisticated touch.
Volcanic Red is a vibrant red tone. Cobalt Blue is a darker blue, with interesting touches of purple. Lastly, Sterling Silver has a classic aesthetic and a soft blue undertone.
Pre-orders for the Deep Earth Collection will begin on October 4th. The Volcanic Red and Cobalt Blue accessories will be released on November 3rd and the Sterling Silver accessories will be released on January 26th.
Unfortunately, Sony has not confirmed the prices of the new accessories.
