ORAN – More than 80 companies, including around fifty Algerian and other Chinese, are taking part in an Algerian-Chinese business forum, opened Wednesday in Oran, in the presence of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Algeria, Li Jian, and executives from the Ministries of Industry and Commerce.

In a speech delivered on the occasion, the Chinese ambassador affirmed that Algerian-Chinese relations in different areas, notably economic, represented a “model of cooperation”, recalling that these friendly relations date back around sixty years. years with the recognition by China, the first non-Arab country, of Algeria’s independence and the establishment by Algeria, the first Arab country, of a comprehensive strategic partnership in different areas.

“The visit of the (Algerian) President, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to China last July made it possible to define many new areas and potential for economic, commercial and investment cooperation,” he declared, adding “we We are in Oran today to deepen bilateral cooperation.

“Many Chinese companies have participated in the realization of several projects in Algeria including those of large infrastructures (stadiums, housing, etc.). Mostly successful experiences thanks to the very favorable and favorable business and investment climate in Algeria. very attractive,” recalled the Chinese diplomat.

For his part, the wali of Oran, Said Sayoud, affirmed that Oran is “a very attractive city due to its economic, industrial and tourist potential, and its land”, indicating, in this regard, that 1000 hectares of land industrial are available in Oran and ready to be granted “immediately”.

For her part, the director of investment attractiveness at the Ministry of Industry and Pharmaceutical Production, Assia Zaarour, made a presentation on investment opportunities in the field of industry, as well as all the facilitations granted with the new investment law.

She stressed that this meeting which brings together Algerian and Chinese businessmen is an “important opportunity to develop an efficient economic partnership in promising sectors between companies from the two countries”, noting that one of the main attractive advantages for investors, in addition to the availability of energy sources, is the availability of industrial land.

The land available through 755 industrial zones and activity zones in 56 wilayas will be reinforced in 50 new industrial zones and activity zones, she announced.

For his part, the regional director of trade, Djilali Sebouai, presented a presentation on the business climate in Algeria and the conditions for integrating the Algerian market, stressing that the presence of Chinese businessmen was “proof of the openness of our country and the desire to develop relations with China to a level that reflects the deep friendship that binds the two countries and the historical relations that unite them.”

The director of industry for the wilaya of Oran, Farid Djaballah, made a presentation of the wilaya’s potential in terms of investment, particularly in the fields of industry, agriculture, fishing and tourism, while the representative of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Hireche Zoubida, addressed the legislative framework for investment in Algeria.

During a press briefing hosted jointly with the wali of Oran, on the sidelines of the Algerian-Chinese business forum, the Chinese ambassador indicated that “Chinese investment in Algeria is expected to be diversified taking into account the multiple cooperation opportunities offered and the favorable business climate”.

“Several areas of cooperation have already been exploited. However, there are still a multitude of sectors where we can work together, such as agriculture, fishing, telecommunications but also the automobile industry,” he said. he declares.

“We reviewed with the wali all the advantages and opportunities offered to Oran, this city which represents a regional and even national pole in economic, commercial and investment terms,” he underlined.

For his part, Said Sayoud affirmed that Oran has many advantages for investment including the availability of energy, an international airport, three ports, a large road network, an efficient industrial fabric called to be developed and a qualified workforce.

“We want to further develop the two industrial zones of Bethioua which houses the +Tosyali+ iron and steel complex, and Tafraoui where the production plant of the Fiat automobile brand has been installed,” he underlined.
