Ten days following his serious motorcycle accident, Mathieu Kassovitz is back at work. The actor-director was in Malakoff, in Hauts-de-Seine, on Wednesday followingnoon to attend the final castings for the stage adaptation of La Haine, his cult 1995 film.
It was in a wheelchair that the 56-year-old actor, briefly plunged into an artificial coma following his accident, discussed with the dozen candidates still in the running for the three roles of Vinz, Saïd and Hubert, played by Vincent Cassel, Saïd Taghmaoui and Hubert Koundé in the original film.
As reported The Parisianhe guided the actors alongside Serge Denoncourt, with whom he will stage this musical show mixing dance, rap and acting, expected for next year.
“I will walk once more in six months”
Mathieu Kassovitz was hospitalized at Kremlin-Bicêtre on September 3 following a serious motorcycle accident that occurred during a driving improvement course for the purposes of future filming on the Linas-Monthléry circuit, in Essonne. He lost control of his two-wheeler. His life prognosis was never threatened, but he was operated on for serious injuries to his pelvis, leg and ankle:
“My femur has been replaced by a titanium rod,” he detailed on Instagram a few days ago, before showing his “completely pulverized” ankle, held in place by several pins. “I think I will walk once more in six months,” he added.
The Evry public prosecutor’s office clarified that the actor was the only one involved in this accident and that he had not hit another vehicle. An investigation has been opened to “search for the causes of the injuries” and will notably rely on the hearing of witnesses, including the driving instructor.
