Apple dedicated a good part of the event “Wonderlust” (“Emotion in action”) to talk regarding its environmental actions, such as its goal of making all of the brand’s products carbon neutral by the year 2030.
One of the initiatives she presented was the elimination of all accessories in leather to the detriment of the new fabric FineWoven — which includes AirTag keychains, iPhone cases, and Apple Watch bands.
When it comes to Apple’s smartwatch, many people were surprised by the fact that the brand maintained its partnership with the French brand Hermes, as it is well known for its leather products at a very high price level. Her “exit” was to launch a complete line of bracelets made from materials such as nylon and rubber, all with a very different design.
After the event, however, the Hermès website was updated to bring the latest news. And the story of leather-free products, in reality, is not quite like that.
The brand not only continues to sell options in this material, but also launched two new styles in it: Single Tour hitchin colors Vermilion (red), Blue Linen (a light blue) and Gold (a very light brown), at a cost of US$380; is Single Tour with the emblem “Clou de Selle”traditional of the brand, for US$590.
They, however, are not (and most likely will never be) sold in the Apple Store Online or in Maçã’s physical stores, being exclusive to Hermès stores. It is worth noting that, despite having been opened recently in Brazil, the brand’s online store There is no indication that it will sell these products…
Although it is curious (and somewhat contradictory for Apple to continue with this partnership), it was to be expected that Hermès would not abandon leather as a material, since it “depends” on it to create its famous and very expensive bags, shoes , etc. The fact is that, as it is not something created in partnership with Apple, it can use whatever material it wants in its products.
Opinions? ????
