2023-09-13 13:25:05

The onset of cancers of the cervix, penis, anus, vagina and certain throat cancers in adulthood are linked to viral infections which go unnoticed during the first sexual relations. Although in 90% of cases the body eliminates the virus itself, it is nevertheless the cause of 6,300 cancers per year. These are serious cancers that require extensive treatment and are often difficult to cure.

The objective of the campaign: to raise awareness among young college students

The vaccination young people, girls and boys, before first sexual intercourse helps prevent any further development of these cancers. Thus, in countries which have adopted this vaccination systematically, such as in Australia, pre-cancerous diseases of the cervix and cervical cancers themselves have almost disappeared. To address this public health problem, the Government has launched a vaccination campaign once morest papillomavirus (HPV) for all 5th grade students in the region.

The City of Clichy, via its free vaccination center, has been mandated by the Regional Health Agency to participate in this campaign for middle school students from the start of the 2023-2024 school year. Vaccination is not compulsory, it will be offered to parents of 5th grade students who are free to accept or not. The vaccination campaign will take place between October and December 2023 for the first dose, the second will be between April and June 2024.
