Sharjah, September 13 / WAM / The Emirates News Agency (WAM) is using artificial intelligence techniques to highlight the role of the media in influencing public opinion.
Through its pavilion at the International Government Communication Forum, which was launched today at Expo Sharjah under the slogan “Today’s Resources… Tomorrow’s Wealth,” WAM is displaying two interactive platforms that illustrate the potential of artificial intelligence in producing true and misleading news.
Artificial intelligence techniques.
The first platform bears the title “Create News at WAM,” and uses artificial intelligence techniques to create news and reports, while the user will delve into the second platform under the title “Fabricating News and the Credibility of WAM.” A real experience of fabricated news with the user’s own image and voice, in an acting context and artistic direction that is often difficult not to believe.
The two platforms allow the use of artificial intelligence tools to create news articles and reports, provide users with a variety of templates and data sources, and allow them to control the tone, style and content of their news stories.
The Emirates News Agency, WAM, signed a strategic partnership agreement last year with the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence, with the aim of enhancing joint cooperation between the two sides in the media and artificial intelligence sectors through the exchange of knowledge, experiences and training.
Commenting on the launch of the two platforms, His Excellency Mohammed Jalal Al Raisi, Director General of the Emirates News Agency (WAM), said that the launch of the two platforms is one of the direct results of the agreement signed last year with the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence. The challenges facing news agencies and media institutions in the field of disseminating news and producing various press, radio, television and digital contents are increasingly multiplying in light of what communication technologies, social media applications and artificial intelligence software have provided, which requires continuous work with all strategic partners locally, regionally and internationally to confront these challenges. Challenges, finding appropriate solutions, and choosing appropriate alternatives within the framework of institutional and societal responsibilities towards various segments and individuals of society, especially the youth group, as they are the most likely to use these technologies and interact with them, according to many scientific studies, academic research, and international reports.
He added: “In the same context and in simulation of what artificial intelligence software can do in terms of creating real and fabricated news and reports, the Emirates News Agency’s pavilion participating in the International Government Communication Forum includes two main platforms for engaging in an interactive experience with this smart software.”
The activities of the 12th session of the International Government Communication Forum were launched this morning under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, at the Sharjah Expo Center under the slogan “Today’s Resources… Tomorrow’s Wealth.” The annual event reviews the experiences and expertise of an elite group of opinion and thought leaders and experts in the government communication sector at the local, regional and international levels, to highlight the importance of exploiting and managing the resources and wealth that countries and societies possess, and how to transform them into factors of success and sustainable development.
This year’s session of the forum focuses on how countries can invest in their various natural, human, scientific and cultural resources and transform them into wealth that supports development at the economic and social levels, and anticipating new resources that may appear in the future as a result of the development of science and technology, in addition to the role of government communication in redefining existing and created wealth. ..
The forum is the largest gathering in the region to discuss the best global practices in government communication, which is closely linked to the media.
