JVC Kenwood announced on September 13th that it will release the KENWOOD brand 3-way 2-speaker systems “KFC-XS175S” and “KFC-XS165S” from mid-October. The price is an open price, and the expected in-store price is around 39,700 yen.
The KFC-XS175S and KFC-XS165S are a new lineup of the high-end model “XS series” of commercially available custom-fit speakers, and are the second installment of joint tuning by Victor Studio, which pursues high-resolution sound. The newly designed “2-way tweeter” will be released in two models: KFC-XS175S, which uses a 17cm woofer diaphragm, and KFC-XS165S, which uses a 16cm woofer diaphragm.
In joint tuning with Victor Studio, a new design was adopted for the tweeter, woofer diaphragm, and diffuser that reflected the studio engineers’ detailed sound quality adjustments, improving high-resolution sound. In particular, the reproducibility, thickness, clarity, and sense of presence of the vocal range have been improved.
The newly designed 2-way tweeter incorporates a super tweeter in addition to a regular tweeter, and uses a “new 25mm soft dome tweeter” with a revised diaphragm material. The new design expands the reproducibility up to the vocal band by adjusting to a natural high-resolution band.
The newly designed 2-way tweeter will be released as a single item from mid-October. The price is an open price, and the expected in-store price is around 18,700 yen.
The woofer uses a newly designed “glass fiber diaphragm.” The “glass fiber diaphragm” was newly designed following careful review of the size of the glass fiber mesh, the density of the nonwoven fabric, and the overall strength of the diaphragm. By adjusting the woofer’s diaphragm to be stiff, the sound is thick and clear in the mid-low range, including the vocal range. In addition, a newly designed diffuser has been adopted in which the shape of the central recess in the woofer’s diffuser section has been changed to increase the spin processing area. The vocal range has become clearer and the sense of presence has also been improved.
