New Delhi: ITC Maurya Sheraton Hotel Pandora where US President Joe Biden stayed. Shangri-La Hotel Samara where UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshat stayed. The Delhi Police used various code words to ensure flawless security on the day when more than 40 heads of state arrived for the G20 summit. Code words were used mainly for the places where the leaders lived. Each hotel where the VVIPs stayed and the main venue of the summit were given code names. VVIPs should not reveal their destination while traveling during wireless communication with security personnel. That’s why codes are used. And so Pandora and Samara were born,

Le Méridien Hotel, where leaders from Nigeria, Netherlands, Spain, Mauritius and World Bank officials stayed, was named Mahabodhi and Taj Man Singh, where the Crown Prince of UAE stayed, was named Paramount. During the visit of the leaders, Rajghat, Gandhi’s mausoleum, was named by the police as Rudpur. Niketan is the most frequently used word by security personnel. Niketan is the code word for Bharat Mandapam, the main venue of Pragati Maidani.

A car from Joe Biden’s motorcade went to the hotel where the UAE head of state was staying

The Delhi Police is relieved that the security was flawless except when a Saudi national went to meet him at the hotel.
