After four games without a point, the ripcord was pulled in St. Martin. Due to the weak start to the season with a goal difference of 4:18, the District League West club parted ways with coach Mathias Bortenschlager on Monday following two years. And that’s just before the big local derby once morest SPG Utzenaich/Antiesenhofen, which also still has no points, next Saturday (4 p.m.).
“It wasn’t an easy decision,” says St. Martin’s section leader Manfred Weilhartner. “Mathias has worked his way up from the youth level and is a St. Martin veteran. But we want to bring new impetus to the team now.” We have to do this early We have to react at the right time of the season in order not to lose touch prematurely. “You just have to look at the table. We are already in a situation that is difficult to get out of,” says Weilhartner. A decision will be made this evening regarding Mathias Bortenschlager’s (interim) successor.
