O Pixelmator Pro won today a new update (version 3.4) with several new features focused on editing PDF files. The file editing engine in this application format has been redesigned, now offering new features that promise to make the photo editor even more complete and powerful.

You can initially import PDF files with multiple pages and select the one you want to edit, also choosing the resolution and page size. You can also, running macOS 12 or newer, import files vectorizedwith shapes and image elements as layers, or import so that all layers are merged.

In this sense, it is now possible to edit the layers of a PDF, allowing elements to be added, removed or rearranged. You can also open PDFs with images, shapes, masks and layers with even more complex properties, involving opacity and other modes.

In vectorized PDFs, you can change the size without losing quality thanks to resolution-independent scaling. The possibility of creating files of this type has also been added, as well as exporting them with all layers intact for use in other apps.

PDFs created in Apple apps, such as Safari and those in the iWork suite (Pages, Numbers and Keynote), are also compatible with Pixelmator Pro, allowing you to edit them with more precision, but importing them the way they were on the screen. be saved. Vectorized elements, images and masks can also be edited in this case.

Finally, another very interesting new feature is the possibility of using actions in the app Shortcuts (Shortcuts) to convert files in other formats to PDF using the new Convert Photo/Video action. In case of conversion to vectorized, the layers can be merged with the new preserve layers setting. The action can also be used with other native macOS actions, such as creating or separating PDFs in Pages.

Pixelmator Pro is available on the Mac App Store and it only costs the value of the one-time purchase, without subscriptions. Usually, it costs R$250but it has a discount of 30%. It requires macOS Big Sur 11 or later and is fully optimized for Macs with Apple Silicon, in addition to being a universal app, also working natively on machines with Intel chips.
