Tony Aubé, a Quebecer who was on vacation in Belgium, dismantled a criminal network while trying to find his laptop.
It all started when he was regarding to take the train home and his backpack was stolen.
His laptop and a computer tracker were inside.
Mr. Aubé tried to find his personal effects by geolocating his computer, but without success.
He then asked for help from the police who unfortunately told him there was nothing they might do since the tracker was not precise enough to locate the right apartment.
Forced to wait until Monday to apply for a new passport at the embassy, he then made it his mission to find the thieves and his computer.
Mr. Aubé decided to wait in front of the building and waited to see the two suspects come out of the apartment.
After taking photos, he followed the two men to several locations around the city to document the suspects’ activities.
At the end of the day, when he presented the documents to authorities, the police raided them and discovered an entire network of stolen items.
