The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has revealed the start of the countdown to the Dubai Youth Theater Festival in its 14th session, which will be organized during the period from 21 to 28 October next, with the completion of the work of the viewing and supervision committee to select the theatrical performances participating in the new version of the festival, which will be held on… Culture and Science Symposium Theater in Dubai.

The viewing and supervision committee, headed by actor Adel Ibrahim, a member of the Board of Directors of the Dubai National Theater, and members of the actor, author and director Ali Jamal, and actor and director Marwan Abdullah Saleh, received six theatrical works presented by the teams of the Dubai Al Ahli Theater, the Dubai National Theatre, the Yas Theater from Abu Dhabi, and the Khorfakkan Theater. Acting Director of the Performing Arts Department at Dubai Culture, Fatima Al Jallaf, stressed the importance of the role of the viewing and supervision committee in evaluating the works and guiding and directing the participants, noting the distinction of the committee with its youth component, in line with Dubai Culture’s commitments aimed at enhancing and refining the experiences of young theatrical talents. And empowering them, which contributes to the advancement of Emirati theater and activating its presence on the global cultural map.

She said: “The viewing and supervision during the evaluation process relied on a set of artistic, aesthetic, intellectual and ethical standards determined by the festival’s organizing committee, including that the performances be homogeneous in their general form, and interconnected in terms of idea, performance, direction and teamwork, and that they be distinguished by their originality and their ability to discuss societal and youth issues.” In addition to its ability to employ creativity and innovation in directing, scenography, etc.
