What you need to know:
Peso Pluma closed the first edition of the Arre HSBC with a show with an outstanding production and an audience that filled the stage. Here our review.
A day earlier it was the turn of Natanael Cano, considered by many the precursor of the corridos tumbados, to close the first day of the Arre HSBC. And for the second day, the turn to do the same was for whoever is considered the one who internationalized the style: Featherweight.
There was some uncertainty regarding whether PP would replicate the great reception that Nata had on the La Hacienda stage… And well, we know that comparisons are quite odious, but it is fair to say that What the native of Jalisco achieved far exceeded expectations.
From before the show started, people were chanting very hard. “Weight, Weight, Weight” on a track where no one might fit anymore. But as best they might, the crowded fans accommodated themselves between slight pushes to try to get the best possible place. The presentation was going to start soon…

Featherweight in the HSBC Arre
In the middle of the wait, there was something gossip that was not missing. A Nicki Nicole song was playing in the background, and surely several people thought regarding the rumored (but not confirmed) relationship between the Mexican and the Argentine.
Soon, the mood changed as soon as the local sound played “Psycho Killer” de los Talking Heads, which took several by surprise since it was part of the beginning of the show. With that song, some videos were projected on the screens where the musicians and the artist’s team talked regarding what it meant to them to work with Peso Pluma.
The Arre HBSC waited impatiently, and the emotion overflowed when the singer came out wearing a balaclava, running and screaming euphorically “Long live Mexico”, and then throw in “Belicón”. It didn’t take long for Featherweight to take out his first Alex Reed. Jasiel Nuñez came to the festival stage to sing the song “Lagunas” with PP.

People’s support for Featherweight, and vice versa
It seems strange the sporadic rise of Featherweight that makes him an artist of international stature. But by watching his show, we can understand that matter a little more.
PP maintains a very marked influence of the great current hip-hop artists in terms of their production. With each song, the visual effects, the screens, the colors of the lights changed… And literally, the fire adorned the stage at times.
Noticeably excited and with an expressive smile, Hassan Emilio Kabande Laija –true name of the artist– said that he was willing to make a mess… a big party then.

Among the public you might see everything, from the photographers who were looking for the best place to take their job in the middle of the crowd of people, to the groups of friends and even families who brought their little ones to see the concert.
The children seemed excited, many of them who shouted at the top of their lungs “Pure Double P”. And having said that, we must highlight the varied audience that was present, because although the new generations are more familiar with the Featherweight phenomenon, there are many older people who were having a good time.
And knowing that he has a large public supporting him, PP didn’t think twice regarding getting off the stage to say hello… At least he got off the stage three times to walk the security line from end to end.

“Up with the Double P” and an emotional moment for Featherweight in the HSBC Arre
The guests continued to arrive at the Arre HSBC, with Luis R. Conríquez delivering one of the most emotional moments of the night. With a “up Sinaloa, up Jalisco and up Mexico City”Featherweight said that Conríquez is one of his mentors, career godfather and the first one who trusted him within the industry.
After performing “Always pending”, They both hugged each other and looked at each other like two great friends, the kind that accompanies you at all times.. People might not stop being moved by the words of gratitude with which PP referred to Luis R. Conríquez.

More songs arrived like “The Baby”, “Lady Gaga”, “She Dances Solo”, “AMG”, “El Azul” and even the Bizarrap Session. And yes, although the party was meant to be bellicose, Peso released some very romantic songs out there. “You can be warlike, but being in love is not going to go away”, he mentioned in a phrase that caused laughter among the people who saw him. A lot of connection between the artist and his audience.
As we said, it has been a very sudden rise to stardom, but there is an audience that comes supporting what Peso Pluma does regardless of everything. And he himself knows that CDMX has been an important point for his career.
“It all started here in CDMX. This was where they opened the doors for us… I will always be grateful”said Peso Pluma to close his show at the Arre HSBC playing “PCR” and extending the Mexican flag.
