Pakistan’s Strong Bowling Line and Virat Kohli’s Historic Century: The Records Broken and the Race to 50 Centuries in ODIs

Colombo: Pakistan has one of the strongest bowling lines in the world. In the Asia Cup, despite fielding the entire squad, they surrendered to Virat Kohli, who led from the front with a smashing century, armed with a world-class bowling line-up.

Virat Kohli’s century (122*) once morest Pakistan at Colombo’s Premadasa Stadium was a record. Kohli surpassed Sakshal Sachin Tendulkar’s record. Kohli became the fastest player to score 13000 runs in the world. Sachin achieved this feat in his 321st innings while Kohli crossed 13000 in his 267th innings. Kohli is also the fastest to score 8000, 9000, 10000, 11000 and 12000 runs in the world.

Kohli is the fifth player in the world and second in India to cross 13,000 runs in ODIs. Just above Kohli is former Sri Lankan opener Sanath Jayasuriya (13430) who played 445 ODIs. Sachin Tendulkar is the highest run scorer in ODI cricket. The legend has scored 18426 runs from 463 ODIs. Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara is second with 14234 runs from 404 ODIs. Former Australian player Ricky Ponting is third. Ponting scored 13704 runs in 375 matches.

At the same time, Kohli actually came close to Sachin Tendulkar in terms of centuries. Sachin Tendulkar is the world leader with 49 centuries followed by Kohli with 47 centuries. Kohli may be able to achieve the magical number of 50 centuries in ODIs this year itself. Indian captain Rohit Sharma is third with 30 centuries.
