New podcast on Austrian agricultural history. Historian Ernst Bruckmüller in conversation. From September 12th on all common podcast platforms.
Vienna (OTS) – The new podcast from the Ecosocial Forum deals with the eventful agricultural history of Austria from the Neolithic Revolution to the period following the Second World War. In 16 episodes, the Secretary General of the Ecosocial Forum, Hans Mayrhofer, interviews the renowned historian Ernst Bruckmüller. The podcast journey through history is entitled “Of famines and waves of food – a short history of agriculture in Austria” and reflects a history of scarcity and hunger over long periods of time. Only the period following the 1950s is characterized by excess, which had to be laboriously brought under control.
“It is a stroke of luck that we were able to win the historian Ernst Bruckmüller for this podcast. There is probably no better expert on Austrian agricultural history and the history of rural areas as a whole. And probably no one who can make historical developments so tangible and understandable,” said Hans Mayrhofer regarding his interview partner.
The podcast “Of famines and waves of food – a short history of agriculture in Austria” will be published every Tuesday from September 12th on all common podcast platforms.
Ernst Bruckmüller is professor emeritus of economic and social history at the University of Vienna, a full member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, honorary chairman of the Institute for Austrian Studies and founded the Institute for the History of Rural Areas, of which he was director from 2002 to 2011.
The production of the podcast “Of famines and waves of food – a short history of agriculture in Austria” was carried out as part of the education cluster and supported by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Regions and Water Management.
